do you need to trim the take down pin spring to compensate for the screw or will it fit with out modify the spring?

This kit is a lower receiver repair kit and does not include a firing pin.

So if I already gave a safety selector, trigger/guard and grip. This kit should include everything else I need to completely build my lower receiver?

The Aero Precision AR15/M4E1 Field Repair Kit will work for an AR build. If you already have a safety selector, trigger, trigger guard and grip you will still need a bolt catch, magazine catch, and takedown pins.

Is the 440 takedown set screw made out of stainless steel?

The manufacturer doesn't state what the 4-40 Set Screw in the Aero Precision AR15/M4E1 Field Repair Kit is made from. I recommend contacting the manufacturer in regards to that information.
