Excellent BCG

Written on Apr 24, 2026

If you're looking for a reliable "heart" for your AR-15 build—especially one that needs to handle high-performance fire control groups—the Rise Armament AR-15 Bolt Carrier Group (BCG) is a top-tier contender.

The Build Quality:
Rise Armament doesn’t cut corners on materials. The carrier is machined from 8620 tool steel, while the bolt is crafted from 9310 steel, which is significantly stronger than standard mil-spec Carpenter 158. Every unit is individually MPI (Magnetic Particle Inspected) to ensure there are no microscopic cracks or defects before it reaches your doorstep.

Finish Options

You have two choices:

Black Nitride: A sleek, deep-black finish that provides excellent surface hardness and corrosion resistance.

Nickel Boron (NiB): This silver-toned finish is ultra-slick, reducing the need for heavy lubrication and making cleanup as simple as wiping it down with a rag.

The standout feature of the Rise Armament BCG (specifically the RA-1011 series) is its Full-Auto Profile.

In the world of modern "Super Safeties" and Forced Reset Triggers (FRT), the profile of your BCG is everything. These systems rely on a mechanical interaction where the rearward travel of the bolt carrier physically pushes the trigger forward to reset it mid-cycle.

Full-Auto Geometry: Unlike semi-auto-only carriers that have a portion of the tail milled away, the Rise Armament BCG features the full M16-style rear lug.

Consistency: This extra material provides the necessary surface area to e

First 3D Printed Mounts

Written on Mar 07, 2024

From everything I have read, these 3D printed mounts are the 1st of their kind, so I wanted to test one out. I was a little skeptical at first due to the high price and the newer technology used to develop this mount however I am very satisfied customer. The first thing you notice is how picture perfect this mount looks out of the box. The lattice design not only looks great but also helps reduce the overall weight on this mount by 30-40%. The design is rugged and feels very durable and it was easy to install. According to EAW these mounts were also vigorously shock tested at the DEVA Institute in Germany with over 2,000 shocks at 700g aka they’re not going to break on you any time soon.
I used this to mount my Primary Arms scope on my 308 and it looks amazing. It also helped reduce the overall weight of my rifle as my 308 is pretty heavy.
I took it to the range, sighted in and put about 200 rounds down range without issue.
The only downside to this mount is the price. I love the QD mount, the design and feel of this mount but it is a little pricey. 3D Printing technology is still expensive, and these are very high quality mounts though so I understand the pricing. Overall, I would recommend this mount to anyone who wants to add a unique, functional, and highly aesthetically pleasing touch to their rifle.

Thin, Grippy, Rugged, and Awesome!

Written on Jun 13, 2023

The Troy X-Series Rails are a welcomed addition to a lineup that has mostly consisted of rugged and durable rails, meant more for LE and Military. The X-Series brings a rail that’s lighter, thinner, and knurled for additional grip. It’s perfect for 3-gun and competition shooting, and it can be equally useful for duty use. In typical Troy tradition, these rails are built tough and made to last. They are comprised of a 6061 T6 Aluminum alloy, making them tough and resistant to heat. They can pair with just about any AR barrel nut, which is a nice touch for those that aren’t looking to utilize proprietary parts that end any modularity advantage. The knurling isn’t only tactile, but it gives the handguard a unique look and feel. It can be underestimated how aesthetically pleasing this rail looks, given all the ergonomic advantages it provides. The rail is free-floating and should have no bearing on accuracy, despite its thin profile. It’s easy to get a solid C-clamp hold for competition, regardless of whether you opt for the full or partial rail variants of the handguard. Overall, this is a well-thought and much needed addition to the line of Troy handguards, and it can be paired with any AR for universal usage.

Solid FDE M-LOK Handguard

Written on Mar 11, 2022

I purchased the RISE Armament AR-15 M-LOK Handguard because I was looking for a lightweight, 4-sided M-LOK slots, and most importantly, FDE handguard to replace my boring, basic handguard on my AR. It came with a barrel nut, barrel nut wrench, and mounting hardware to install on my upper. The handguard itself has a matte FDE finish that looks clean and well done. Installing the rail to my upper was fairly simple and didn't take much time at all. Although I do not have many rounds through my AR with this handguard installed, it remained solid and sturdy throughout my most recent trip to the range. My M-LOK hand stop did leave scratches on the finish of the inside of the rail due to the M-LOK mounting tabs. Overall, I am happy with the handguard as it has accomplished everything I was hoping it would without breaking the bank.

I would recommend this handguard to anyone who is looking for a lightweight, 4-sided M-LOK handguard that has multiple color options and doesn't want to be eating Ramen Noodle's for the next two weeks.

Great Budget Upper

Written on Feb 25, 2022

I purchased the TRYBE Defense AR-15 10.5in Upper because I had just finished piecing together a lower receiver and was looking for just about anything to complete the gun with a budget in mind. I came across the TRYBE upper and decided to go for it since it was the barrel length I wanted and included the BCG and charging handle. It has a Black Nitride finish and scratches easily. It also gets dirty quickly and likes a lot of lube, but functions as intended. 1200 rounds later I feel confident enough to recommend this upper to anyone looking for a complete upper on a budget. No malfunctions to date, and on-par performance that you would expect out of a 10.5" barrel. The rail has stayed just as solid and sturdy as it was the day I received it. This upper does everything it's supposed to do reliably, and when you're on a budget, that's all you can really ask for.
