The AIM Sports Inc Ruger for Mini-14/Mini-30 See-Thru Base Scope Mount is designed to fit current generation models of the Ruger Mini 14. I would recommend the GG&G Ruger Mini-14/ Mini-30 Ranch Model Picatinny Scope Mount found using the following link:

The manufacturer states that the AIM Sports Inc Ruger for Mini-14/Mini-30 See-Thru Base Scope Mount will only fit current generation Ruger Mini 14 Ranch Rifles. Unfortunately I am unaware of a scope mount that will fit an old generation Ruger Mini 14. I recommend contacting Ruger to see if they have a recommendation for a scope mount for your particular rifle.

Two questions: 1) Will this mount fit a Ruger Mini 14 ranch rifle with S/N beginning with '187-'? 2) Will std Ruger Mini 14 rings fit this mount?

It should fit on your Mini 14 ranch. You cannot mount Ruger Mini 14 rings to this mount, as this is a picatinny rail.

It attaches directly to the receiver the way the proprietary Ruger ringmounts would. No drilling or tapping is required.

This AIM Sports Inc Ruger for Mini-14/Mini-30 See-Thru Base Scope Mount is designed for current gen Mini 14 rifles. I'd recommend using the Evolution Gun Works Picatinny Scope Mount designed specifically for the Ruger 10/22 Takedown model. You can find it using the following link:
