This is probably a question that should be directed towards Aimpoint but I am trying to figure out why they went with aluminum. No steel/stainless? — 1 Answer

Hello !

Luckily, I work for Aimpoint so I can answer this as best I can. Aluminum is a lighter material than steel as well as softer and easier to machine while maintaining strength and durability. For most adapter plates, screws are made from steel, since they are the tension producing securement for the plate, their more effective made from steel while the plate can be aluminum for lighter overall weight.

Hope this helps,
