Specifications say “Red Dot Sights-Footprint: RMR.” Will it fit securely on a RMR mount plate?

This is an error on the optics planet item specifications, this optic only fit's onto shotguns with a shotgun rib above the barrel such as with over under shotguns. It will not fit the RMR footprint or any other common pistol mounting footprint.

No it will not, it is made to utilize the included adapter pieces to fit to shotgun ribs only.

I have a Smith and Wesson 22 magnum this optic Aimpoint ACRO S-2 Red Dot Reflex Sight w/ Integrated Shotgun Rib Mount 200907 does it fit?

If the firearm has a shotgun rib, it will most likely fit, but there is a possibility that it wont.

I want to put an Acro on benelli m4 and it has a picatiny rail on it not the rib can this work on the shotgun with a different mount?

No sir, The S-2 is built with a different body to accommodate the rib mounting system. However, the regular P-2 allows for many Aimpoint and aftermarket mounts to be attached and allow you to mount it to the Pic rail on your M4.
