Per Alexander Arms regarding their barrels and bolts and the type,
"This product is not what is referred to as a "type 2" bolt. The term "type 2" was created by the firearms community and loosely applies to bolts that correspond to the wildcat cartridge now known as "Grendel II." Because we are the originator and developer of the 6.5 Grendel cartridge, which is now SAAMI-certified, we do not use, sell, stock, or promote the cartridge and corresponding parts of the wildcat "Grendel II" or any other wildcat cartridge. This bolt is a 6.5 Grendel bolt made to fit the barrels of our 6.5 Grendel rifle products and any other rifle products that happen require the same bolt specifications. We are unable to confirm the compatibility of this bolt with any other company's products."
To rephrase the question: Does Alexander Arms (the developer of the 6.5 Grendel cartridge) chamber their barrels per SAAMI Specification? The answer is that all Alexander Arms manufactured barrels are chambered per SAAMI specification and also with 5/8x24 threaded muzzles. Only barrels chambered to 6.5 Grendel SAAMI specifications can be considered a true 6.5 Grendel. Any chambering that deviates from the SAAMI spec would be considered a wildcat cartridge.
