There may be alterations that reduce weight, improve ejection, improve movement and reducing friction, or a different gas key if the system it's designed for doesn't have the need. Most AR-15 .223/5.56/300AAC bolt carrier groups will be interchangeable between rifles though. The only feature in that that would be necessary to check is that it is indeed still for direct impingement.
