Hi,
The IR mounts on the center rail. Please note, if the IR is mounted, you cannot mount the unit onto a headgear. The IR must be removed in order to mount the unit to your headgear.

Infra Red

These ATN made IR illuminators mount directly to the top of the ATN NVGs. A mounting plate comes with the device.

True “Infra Red” is invisible to the human eye. This is extremely important to understand. These ATN made illuminators are “true” infra red illuminators. If you turn these on without using night vision goggles (NVGs) at the same time, it will appear as though the Infra Red Illuminator is broken.

This particular ATN made Infra Red illuminator is very powerful and will provide extended viewing in TOTAL darkness when using NVGs. Note; NVGs need a very faint amount of light to function. Faint starlight will be enough light to allow NVGs to work correctly. NVGs will NOT function in “TOTAL” darkness. This is the benefit of true Infra Red illuminators. The benefits are perfect in earth quake rescue missions. However... if used in battle and the enemy also has NVGs, the enemy’s NVGs will see the powerful Infra Red on your helmet, like an extremely bright, green fluorescent light, marking the exact location of your head.
