This Barnes VOR-TX 9mm Luger 115 grain XPB ammunition is not listed as +P ammunition by the manufacturer. However, the Barnes VOR-TX 9mm Luger 115 grain XPB ammo has the same velocity as their +P ammunition which would lead me to believe that it is +P. I recommend using the ammo at the link below which is not +P.

This is just the tripped down version of the XPD line. The Branes X bullet is probably the most dependable SCHP you can find on the market. many other manufacturers use the same Barnes X bullet they just load it different. Corbons new DPX ammo is the Barnes X bullet just loaded to higher pressures I believe. The penetration of the SCHP in 9mm is where most people have problems with it. The standard and maximum weight 115 grain SCHP lacks the weight to penetrate deep enough for most gun carriers. However there are numerous reviews on YouTube using these SCHP and the results are all over the place. most of the time 13innisnthe maximum depth of penetration with most being under 12in. That is every loading except the Corbon 115+p DPX. it goes on average from what I've seen 14-15in and that my friend is perfect. The Corbon loading is more expensive by a substantial amount but it's far superior. This version of the Barnes X SCHP isn't bad by any means. I have a few boxes of it and carry it now and then and love using it for Varmint shooting. It's a fantastic woods carry load if you aren't encountering Grizzly bear. I would even use it on a black bear and feel it's sufficient for it with proper shot placement. SCHP won't fragment like traditional JHP because there is no lead to separate. The only thing holding the 9mm SCHP back is the weight. if they could find a way to get it up to 124-147 grain and keep velocity high enough no doubt it would be the best self defense loading on the market for 9mm. all the SCHP available in 9mm work well from short barrels too. So a plus is it will function well in all size 9mm guns so if the time comes and you need a main sidearm and back up sidearm you can run the same ammo in both guns.
From Barnes Bullets: The bullet, velocity and terminal performance is identical. The only difference is the VOR-TX case is “brass” where the TAC-XPD is nickel plated. Also, the TAC-XPD bullet is coated where the VOR-TX is not. We did this because there is such a large demand for the 9mm ammo, it was more expedient to manufacture the VOR-TX ammo and get it to our loyal customers, quicker. Also, we are able obtain the same velocity as TAC-XPD with our non-+P marked brass in the VOR-TX load at standard pressure.
This is not +P. It is concerning that other have said otherwise. 115gr going 1150fps is definitely not +P. Thats standard pressure for 124gr.
