3/8" rings are rings that are designed to mount to 3/8" dovetail grooves. This scope has a 1" tube, so if you did not have a 3/8" dovetail, you can buy 1" scope rings that attach to weaver, picatinny/1913 rails. Or whatever mounting surface your rifle uses.
