The collapsed height of the BOG Deathgrip Sherpa with its tripod head is 31", meaning you would not be able to shoot with it in the prone position.

Yes, you can shoot in prone position. You can remove the center post but only connect the clamp which allows for your three legs (extended or not) to stretch as flat as possible.
