The Caldwell XLA External Spring Shooting Rifle Bipod mounts via a sling swivel stud. Since the M&P-15 does not use a sling stud you would need to purchase and install one on your rifle. You would first need to replace your standard handguard (if you have a 2-piece) with an aftermarket M-lok or picatinny handguard. You would then need to purchase a sling swivel adapter. smith &Wesson m&p 15 has a threaded hole on the bottom side of the gas block where a swivel can be added
