With some mods, yes. You would need to change out the chamber adapter from your bolt group, to the barrel collar that CMMG makes for these. The collar lives on the bolt carrier assembly, but it can be installed just like a 5.56 BCG, all together from the rear of the upper. Do it, you will be so happy. I did it because I got tired of cleaning my 5.56 chamber, and star chamber locking lug teeth. 22 shoots dirty, and a dedicated 22lr barrel makes cleanup waaaay easier. Hope this helps!!
Yes it will work with the cmmg 22arc dedicated collar $59 stainless steel now. Grab a floating rail kit (comes with barrel nut already etc.)and your choice of a strip / or upper kit assemble (i got a blemish upper kit for less) and good you are to go. You can use the same charging handle :). This way you you have a complete upper and a quick swap to enjoy plinking targets etc. It will look just like your AR :).
