This barrel is made of 4150 CrMoV steel, featuring a chrome-lined bore with honed and hand-lapped rifling. The barrel has a 0.750” gas block that is dimpled for ease of installation and solid lock-up.

Is this barrel “cold hammer forged?”

A
Answered by Drew, member, from UT, United States, on May 06, 2026

It looks like I’m answering my own question after doing some quick research into the barrel.
No, this is not “cold hammer forged.” This barrel is designed for rigidity and accuracy instead of high capacity use.
CHF barrels are for 15k rounds fired through them but, are not as accurate as “button-rifled” barrels like this HBAR.

The manufacturer does not state if the Criterion Barrels AR-15 HBAR Rifle Gas System Barrels have HBAR Engraved on the side of the barrel. I recommend contacting the manufacturer in regards to that question.

Will this work for a functional bayonet build using a virgin pinned front sight assembly?

You would need at least the 20 inch barrel for this to be functional with the rifle length gas tube.
