Do these Danners have a side zipper?

No. The Danner Vital Snake Boot 17in Boots do not feature a side zipper. They feature a "Lock & Load" lacing system with reengineered ghillies across the forefoot for a secure, yet quiet fit. As well as locking speed hooks for quick lacing.

So if not insulated are they warm enough for winter hiking?

They make a "hot weather" version so I imagine these would be good with a pair of thick socks.

They weight 66 oz per pair. And they are Non-Insulated boots.
