This is restricted to Le/Mil only due to the advantages they provide over other standard tubes. The wider field of view is apparently deemed too much for civilian minds...

They will not let civilians buy these for when the Big Luau begins then the playing field will be level.

The real reason that citizen's can't purchase these is that EOTech doesn't want them taken outside the US and disassembled and copied. They feel the risk is too high with general public sales so they restrict purchase to LE/Mil.

Civilians can legally purchase and own these, however it’s up to the company’s discretion to sell them as military or LE only. The reason being that international adversaries can purchase, export, and reverse-engineer them to make their own variants. In fact it is illegal to let a non-US citizen even look through Gen 3 tubes. Once a newer version renders these obsolete you might see them on the civilian market for a more reasonable price.
