The FAB Defense M16 Aluminum Quad Rail Handguard does not require a barrel nut. It is a two-piece design that utilizes the delta ring and handguard cap to secure to the rifle.

The FAB Defense M16 Aluminum Quad Rail Handguard model fx-nfrex is 12.48" long so it will extend past the barrel on a Colt Commando. The FAB Defense M16 Aluminum Quad Rail Handguard model fx-nfrm5 is 6.96" long, so it might work. It will depend on where it lines up with the A2 front sight post.

Yes. The mid length FAB Defense M16 Aluminum Quad Rail Handguard is designed to fit carbine length AR15 pistols/rifles with the FSB (front sight post).
The extended handguard will fit carbine length AR15 models and variants with a barrel length if 14" or longer with a FSB.
