The only difference between the pinned version and the non-pinned version is that the pinned version comes with a gas block. Also, the gas block that it comes with is drilled and the barrel has a groove milled into it to fit the hole in the gas block and accept the pin. BUT, the gas block does NOT come pre-installed. If you want, you can throw away the Faxon gas block and use any gas block that you want.

BUT, why would you buy a barrel and gas block combo, pay more, and then not use the gas block that came in the combo?
