I can tell you from personal experience having just gotten mine mounted and zeroed I'm probably going to move mine up a couple of notches on my rail because I have to pull my head back just a little farther than I like and yeah it really eats up that 4 in any closer is not very good any farther away is not very good you got a pretty much stay within that 4 inches. At least that's been my experience so far.
