Yes, man docs indicate "etched reticle" which is black without illumination.

Per the manual:

ILLUMINATION CONTROL
The Firefield RapidStrike riflescope uses an etched reticle. The reticle can
be used without illumination and will appear black. To activate the reticle
illumination in red:
1. Rotate the illumination dial (6) either clockwise or counterclockwise. The
dial is marked with the brightness setting ranging from 0 (off) to 5.
2. Set the dial so the setting indicating desired brightness faces the shooter or
the white indication mark on the housing.
3. To turn off, rotate the dial to the zero setting.

It's on my Sport 2 now. It's etched. I actually prefer it in certain light.

The PDF manual mentions that the reticle is etched.
