Would the flir scout 111 320 work to find hot spots in electrical systems? I'm thinking it could be a useful tool for electrical trouble shooting.

Would this be good for trying to view UFOs/UAPs in the sky or would it not be practical due to range limitations?

The FLIR Systems Scout III 320 Thermal Night Vision Monocular might work but I recommend contacting the manufacturer in regard to how well it would work for that application.

Can it look into vegetation on hill side?

Heavily dependant on the weather conditions, what you're trying to view, and your environment. Generally speaking - yes. Heavy vegetation would obscure your vision, but you could see objects behind brush or grass.

At the user's preference, can it be switched between thermal imaging Optics and Night Vision Optics? Or does it only do thermal imaging?

This is only a thermal vision optic and does not have a night vision mode.

It can be used out to 600 yards, but keep in mind other variable factors such as weather conditions may impact detection range.
