From what I understand, the M193 is a lead core FMJ. As Steve said, all Fort Scott Munitions projectiles are constructed of solid copper that are carved out of copper rods on high-speed lathes, unlike the M855 which is a lead core jacketed with copper. The solid copper will penetrate better, keeping its weight and mass and shape when passing through tough hide and even bone, then tumble upon impact with soft tissue.
