bought compete upper but bolt carrier will not pull all the way back. Does it need a specific lower?

how close is ghosts FDE compared to magpul stocks? thanks

Based on their website they only make M16 cut BCG's, that being said it is safe to assume yes.

What is the barrel material and profile?

The barrel is made of 4150 Chrome Moly Steel Barrel with a Black Nitride finish, and will have the A2 barrel profile.
