Sorry for my ignorance but why is the .500-28 adapter needed? My other threaded barrels fit nicely into the suppressor. Thank you.

The barrel is threaded for M9 x .75 RH, having a 1/2x28 thread adapter allows the user more options for suppressors or other muzzle devices that also use the 1/2x28 threads.

Will you need to change the spring rate to fire suppressed?

You may need to use a different recoil spring when running suppressed. However, my recommendation would be to use your original spring and see how the pistol performs as it may function fine with the OEM spring. If you experience malfunctions, I would then look into purchasing a new spring.

Yes, with the use of the adapter, the barrel will have 1/2x28 threads.
