Why will the 1/2"-28 not work on 9mm? Is it due to inner diameter? My 9mm barrel has 1/2"-28 thread.

Pushing a 9mm projectile through a .223/5.56 hole at high velocity is not recommended.

Your 9mm barrel should be threaded for 1/2 x 36, all of Guntec USA's 9mm muzzle devices are 1/2x36:

I would recommend contacting the manufacturer of your barrel for confirmation.

This has a 1/2 x 28 Thread and is meant for 5.56/.223 Cal.
