This scope is not air rifle rated. Here is a link to a model that is:

I spoke to Hawke technical factory rep recently. Asked about Vantage model scopes vs Airmax models for use on Diana 48 .22 caliber pellet rifle. He was aware of the problems associated with hard recoiling springer pellet rifles. According to him the Vantage is just as resistant to the recoil from springer air rifles as the Airmax line. The only advantage with the Airmax line is the reticle being etched on the glass vs a wire crosshair on the non illuminated Vantage models. He explained that although the etched glass reticle shouldn’t break like a wire reticle can there are other ways the scope can fail. You only have to read the Airmax reviews to confirm the not so rare scope failures. The Hawke rep told me that NONE of their scopes are specific “air gun” or “springer” rated. The lifetime warranty does cover scope failure even on springer guns. I suggest talking with Hawke technical for yourself, the call is free and the wait time was very short.
