I have this adapter and I have two Mossburg 702 plinkster and one Rossi SR22 basically the same rifle made in the same factory in Brazil with some difference like stock, sights and chargering handle design.
It fits perfectly on both of my 702's barrel and sight, but for my Rossi it fits perfectly over the barrel but not the front sight which is slightly wider.
Since both are made in the same factory you might have gotten a Rossi sight put on the 702 you bought, so the only way to make it fit over the Rossi sight is to file down the width of the sight till it fits.
