Does the trigger reset after each shot?

No, the Laser Ammo LaserPET II Electronic Training Target w/ 9mm SureStrike Cartridge will require you to rack your slide after ech shot in order to charge the firearm and reset the firing pin.

i see they make two or more shots, how does that work without pulling the slide back every time?

Once the system is installed it will reset your trigger.

What is the advantage of the IR vs Red laser?

The difference between an infrared laser and a red laser is that an infrared laser is invisible to the human eye while red is visible.

When choosing a model you will want to choose the model that correlates with the laser you have.

Is there a built in timer for par time function?

There is a built in timer, there are 6 possible modes:
-Hit counter, counts the number of consecutive hits
-Shot timer/fast draw, measures how fast you can hit the target in one shot
-Pressured shooting/trigger control, counts the number of hits within a pre-set time slot
-Double tap/reload timer, measures your speed between the 1st and 2nd hit
-Multiple Shot Timer/elapsed time, measure your time between start to multiple hits
-Multiple Shot Timer, split time, measure your split time between consecutive hits
