No the eye relief is 5" - 3.35" through the magnification ranges. The glass is etched and is still usable without illumination.

1. no. a low power the range is around 3 to 6 inches but tightens up to rigtht at 3 when you go out to 8x. 2. yes, reverts to the black etched reticle
