No you can just drop the barrel in. You can even use the same mags but,for reliability I would buy 9mm mags , and a 9mm extractor if you plan on carrying 9mm for defense .My 27,23,24,& 35 all work fine with just the barrel swap you might have to play with ammo in the 35 & 24 thought. hope I helped and happy shooting.
