Each of the four pieces uses 4 slots (plus some overhang on each side) for a total of 16 slots if you use all four pieces together.

will this work on mlock pic rail

The product is intended to be used on a picatinny rail - if your M-Lok fore end has a picatinny adapter, you will be able to use the product, but it cannot attach directly to an M-Lok hand guard without the adapter.
