Meprolight does not provide any information in regards to the difference. You would need to contact the manufacturer directly as they do not even list these options themselves.

The ML31618FS is 0.85” tall, whereas the ML31615FS is 0.75” tall. The ML31615FS seems to be a better fit for most front sights with the ML31618FS riding high in many sights. When you purchase the front & rear set, it comes with the shorter front sight. If you’re going to actually use this in low light conditions, just get the F & R set unless you’re just replacing an existing front night sight.

It is the same Sight Post, the "ML31615F.S" has an adjustment Tool with it.
This Sight Post has a five notch adjusting base... so a tool is available for it.

What I gathered, is that the other post is thinner then standard. This one does not make the same claim, so I’d bet it’s standard thickness.
