Can you swap the original stock on this config out for any other mil-spec stock that would be commonly used in an AR-15 style buffer like a magpul?

No. The Mesa Tactical High-tube Telescoping Hydraulic Recoil Stock Kit is only compatible with the Remington 870 and Mossberg 500/590 shotgun platforms.

The Mesa Tactical High-tube Telescoping Hydraulic Recoil Stock Kit includes an M4 Carbine style telescoping buttstock assembly, an ERGO rubber pistol grip, a stamped steel stock wrench and a push-button sling swivel.
