Can this be permanently pinned and welded to a cut down AK barrel or does it require the front sight with a detent?

It’s not pre-drilled to be pinned but it’s steel so theoretically it could be done. Silver solder is also an option for permanently affixing a muzzle device to a barrel shorter than 16 inches which would definitely work with this product although keyboard commandos hotly debate the efficacy of this method.

Yes, you will need a front sight detent.
