The Mueller Optical 1x22x 33mm Quick Shot Waterproof Red Dot Scope should function fine with an AR pistol. AN advantage of this optic is its reticle options. Specifically the center dot with large circle reticle, allowing you to have faster target acquisition at closer ranges.

Will it hold your zero when the battery dies?

Yes it should hold the zero after battery replacement, but that also depends on where the battery is located. We always suggest to re-zero after battery replacement to make sure you will be good to go.

What is the battery life?

Mueller does not provide an estimation for battery life, however consumers have praised the battery life on this red dot sight. And you can easily replace the 3V Lithium Battery (CR2032).

Ruger MK 2 has a weaver type rail will this mount on it

No this will not work with a weaver mount, the Quickshot has a built-in integrated rail and will mount directly to a standard Picatinny style rail (multi slot base rail).
