The red dot can be removed (as a matter of fact, it has to be removed to install or replace the battery).

A cover for the red dot is not included.

That unfortunately not possible. The markings on the reticle are in MILs so if you use a ballistic calculator you should be able to determine your holds for different distances.

The main optic will have a black reticle that can be seen while the device is turned off. Illumination can be turned on to brighten the reticle. The red dot on top requires power to operate.

How well will the bullet drop compensator work on a 300 blackout?

It will be a bit off, however you can recalculate the drop values using a ballistics calculator.

This is designed for AR-15 rifles, it most likely will not hold zero well on .338 magnum.

All NcSTAR® optics are warranted and protected from defects in materials and workmanship for the lifetime of the product. If any NcSTAR® product is found to have defects in materials or workmanship, NcSTAR®, at our discretion and subject to availability, will repair or replace the product. If the product was purchased within 90 days, a copy of Proof of Purchase is required. If the product was purchased over 90 days, a $10 handling fee must be made payable by check or money order to NcSTAR®. A Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) must be issued before returning the product. Ship product prepaid and insured to NcStar. NcStar cannot be responsible for product until it has been received.
