No it doesn't work with the C-5 lower. I just bought both. I got the "Spartan" brand upper which is the same as NFA, from Joe Bob Outfitters. The last round bolt hold open on the upper interferes with the feed ramp on the lower, and the bottom of the upper isn't wide enough to accept the MP5 mags. I was hoping to put this upper with my C5 lower but I will have to build my wife's glock lower with this upper. I guess the C5 rear charge upper is the only one that will work with the C5 lower, I read that the bottom of the upper is machined wider for the MP5 mags. If you are a machinist and u want to use this upper for the left side chargeing option , u can remove the last round bolt hold open and mill the side wall wider were the mag meets the upper. I literally just opened my upper so I haven't measured how much needs to be removed, looks like somewhere between 1/8"-3/16" per side . Hope that helps.
