Our uppers use a side charger system that functions much the same way as a bolt action AR. We have achieved a very quiet, smooth operation side charger system. When paired with our lower receivers, it forms the basis for a very quiet, very accurate AR. The side charger system works by charging the magazine from the chamber end against a stationary source as the magazine is pushed forward. The spring for the magazine release must be pushed all the way into the magazine release catch. Pressing the 'release' button with the tip of the magazine follower is the same as a charging handle that has been pushed all the way in. The lip of the mag well needs to be filed down very slightly to prevent the magazine from sliding forward onto the bolt as the magazine is inserted. We highly recommend only using one brand new bolt for the mag well and one brand of powder for the bolt. If you have a Colt style bolt release, please use a Colt style extractor for the magazine release.
