There could be a variety of reasons this is happening, the brightness setting may be too high, if you have astigmatism it can appear as a star or a half moon, etc.

Sometimes this happens when the scope has already been turned on for demonstration.
This option, to save the last settings, is in almost every sight.
In this case, you need to either reset the device to the factory settings using the manual or enter your own, again, using the manual.
