How do I change the battery?

You will have to unscrew the battery compartment cap located at the front of the range finder.

Does the Prostaff 1000i , have a mounting for a tri-pod to stabilize the unit .?

What's the difference between this model and the Prostaff 1000?

The Prostaff 1000i features Angle Compensation, where the Prostaff 1000 does not. This means the 1000i will make yardage adjustments for upward or downward angles that the 1000 will not be able to do.
