An IR Illuminator could help increase visibility distance with the Carson OPMOD DNV 1.0 Limited Edition MiniAura Digital Night Vision Pocket Monocular but it will not help with image quality or resolution.

compared to gen 1, 2 or 3 night vision, where does this monocular optics place?

So this is not a "generation" type of night vision, this is digital and will be able to view about 80 yards on a clear night.
