It will depend on the ammo you are using, the barrel length, the weight of your slide, the strength of your current recoil spring and how firm you hold your gun. If you want to have less muzzle rise a comp is a great way to do it. You may have to get a softer spring but those are cheap. I typically run a DPM tunable guide rod and spring kit on most of my guns. The kit is great because it uses 2 springs, the main spring can be pretty light because the 2nd spring only starts to compress about 80% of the way in. So you can easily rack your slide, you’ll have less force of your slide returning to battery so your front sight won’t dip when you are shooting fast. There is the basic rule of physics. The stronger your recoil spring the less felt recoil you will have and the softer the spring the more. Of course we are talking about 9mm here lol. So felt recoil is pretty light no matter what. Muzzle rise is more of an issue since it’s typically a supersonic round. Comps will reduce the guns muzzle movement upwards so you can get back on target faster. For competitive shooting I run 90gtn to 115 grn and run a pretty light spring. If I’m doing any tactical training I run a stronger spring since I typically use 9mm nato which is a 124grn +p essentially. All of strike industries products are well made and I’ve never had a complaint. I do wish the would do the guide rod mounted comps like they did for the Glocks.
