It is made to be worn as a normal jacket.
I want to love this jacket because it is nice. Nicely constructed. And the materials are quality. But for some reason? It isn’t that warm. I live in Southern California and when it was cold here in Compton it wasn’t warm. And I bought it for the desert. Where we were sleeping out in 33° temperatures last week. To be fair? I did notice it seemed to work better once I used the Velcro on the sleeves and closed them around my wrist. I think you have to do that with this jacket. Or it won’t work that well. It almost seems to function as a wetsuit, but for land. If you close the wrists? It begins to trap your body heat and reflect it back to you and keep it within the jacket. If I am doing something wrong please tell me? Because I really do want to love this thing. But it was crazy to me that it was 50-60 something degrees and I was still cold. And I usually run hot. Again, it was noticeably better once the sleeves were closed. But I didn’t stay out long enough to really see how warm it got because I was just throwing the ball for my dogs in the street. Do you need to layer underneath? I was just wearing a t-shirt. But figured since it was called an Arctic jacket it could more than handle this tepid L.A. weather. I know OTTE is a solid company. So, that’s what’s confusing me.
