Greetings and thank you for your interest in Primary Arms Optics. This optic comes equipped with locking, zero resettable turrets. Meaning you can set your zero by removing the turrets and lining up your zero with the 0 mark in the center line underneath. As for the locking turrets, when in the up position they are free to move and when down, they lock in place, however they do not lock based on a pre-set zero.

would this be the best primary arms scope for a 300 win mag?

Answered by Primary Arms Optics, Manufacturer from TX, United States, on June 04, 2021

Primary Arms offers many excellent optics for a variety of different shooting practices. The best scope is the scope suited for the type of shooting you are intending. The 300 Win Mag is a large round and is a choice selection for activities such as hunting or precision and competition shooting. Typically 300 Win Mag shooters engage in medium to long range distances. The Primary Arms 3-18x is generally considered a medium range scope, and 18x is typically on the higher magnification range in the medium range category. If you want a scope somewhere between medium and long range, then this optic is worth considering.

Greetings and thank you for your interest in Primary Arms Optics. A product comparison with values of 500.00 verses 1,000.00 will go toward the product valued at 1,000.00.

When it comes to glass there is some personal preference involved, I have not personally handled an Athlon Ares so I can't speak to the glass.

With the Primary Arms 3-18 50mm the glass is on par with other optics in the industry in the same price range. Vortex has great glass and in regards to the Crossfire II, the glass is comparable.

In regards to tracking the scope is very durable and can hold zero pretty well. It's tested on a SAR 17 308 which kills most optics.

I hope this information was useful, good luck with your purchase and if you need additional details about glass, and it's not protected info, we can get you an answer.

Happy shooting!

Will this scope work with a .308?

Expert Answer
A
Answered by Armando R., Gear Expert, from IL, United States, on January 30, 2020

Yes, any of the options listed on this page will work and they just vary in adjustments and reticle which you will need to decide on. If you wanted the ACSS reticle specifically for a .308 that can be found under MPN: 610037 here:
