Can this be used in the daytime and does it have the same distance of detection?

Yes, it will work during the day. Range may be visibly shorter during the day due to washout from the sun.

What is a typical detection and identification range for this unit?

Expert Answer
A
Answered by Armando R., Gear Expert, from IL, United States, on March 18, 2020

Advertised detection range is 1800 meters, but that is likely with a clear line of sight and the faintest thermal signature. Realistic identification range is likely within 500 yards depending on the size of the target.
