Will this fit a 1980 Mini-14? (183 series) Will it replace the existing wood handguard? Thank you!

The Ruger Mini-14/30 Handguard Assembly is only compatible with Mini-14 Series 580 and Newer, Mini-14 Pre-Series 580, as well as the Mini-30.

The Ruger Mini-14/30 Handguard Assembly will not fit that stock.

I want to verify that this handguard has the metal insert as shown in the picture. The current replacement on other websites has no metal.
