1.93" mount would provide a more natural "heads-up" height. It will also work better if using a gas mask. It generally WILL NOT co-witness with iron sights. For lower 1/3 co-witness you will want 1.57" mount.
You buy this mount to match the quality / weight of the optic. If you’re going for a lower priced, heavier optic where weight is not a consideration (e.g., your 100% bench shooter and never off-hand or in some odd braced position) then you don’t need this.
However, if weight and heavy recoil tolerance are important (e.g., a .308 rifle with a NF or other high-end optic), then you’ll want a quality mount. The mount is set up so it’s really hard to over-torque, it’s removable with repeatable zero, and it’s super easy to level.
Every single ounce counts when you have to carry and shoot on the move. If the mount is junk, optic quality is irrelevant. A scope moving or getting a main tube crushed makes hitting 300+ meter shots kinda challenging.
I have 3 of these and they are superb.
The Scalarworks LEAP/08 30mm Scope Mount is offered with either a 1.57" centerline (lower 1/3) or 1.93" height. MPN:SW0810 is the 1.57" height for 30mm tubes, and MPN:SW0910 is 1.57" height for 34mm tubes.
No, but the superb machining and ingenious design make it just about worth its weight in gold. They're worth saving up for if they fit your application.
