A secondary short set screw/jam screw can be utilized. Most times not needed. Our adjustment Screw has a nylon plug insert which typically keeps the adjustment in place.
Yes, it can be used in place of an adjustable gas block and or in conjunction with an adjustable gas block. Many customers run both and others feel it’s not necessary and run just the adjustable gas key.
Each platform and individual customers builds differ. Running our Sharps adjustable gas key (SAGRS) and a gas block is subjective in theory. No, it is not necessary to run both systems, these systems function in a similar manner by allowing tuning that reduces gas that operates the bolt carrier group, ie velocity, felt recoil impulse when the tune properly, also reducing blowback on the shooter when running suppressed. That being said, Sharps believes that our design illuminates the majority of this blow back. Some of our customers prefer to run an adjustable gas block and our Gas key. Adjustable gas blocks and or an adjustable gas key will work. You can run both that is up to the individual customer and what makes them happy.
