What is the drawback of putting this .308 reticle on a .223?

The biggest issue is that the bullet drop marks in the reticle will not correlate to the marked distances.

What grain of projectile is this optic set up for if it is not set up.for 147 grain?

It is ballistically matched to 175 Grain 308 Win (7.62x51 M118LR).

Sightmark does not make a model for 147 grain projectiles.
