I am thinking about putting this scope on a rifled shotgun for deer hunting. Has anyone had any experience mounting it on shotguns?

It's a red dot and can be mounted to just about anything. So as long as you are getting the appropriate mounting bases/rings this will mount to a shotgun. Please email us at techsales@opticsplanet.com with the exact make and model of shotgun and we can offer up some mounting options.

Will this sight hold up to a 500 S&W Revolver? I have the 10" with the fixed rail... I usually shoot 300 to 350 gr ammunition..

No, the center section is just a bit too long to let both rings sit on that rail.
